National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Rhode Island Regional Transition Centers participates in the National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October. The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme was “It takes a Village” Reflecting this year’s theme, throughout the month, the Regional Transition Coordinators engaged in a variety of activities to educate its Transition Advisory Committees on disability employment issues and its commitment to an inclusive work culture. These efforts included marketing materials, webinars, and weekly emails providing knowledge to Rhode Island’s Educators. As part of our ongoing promotion of Employment First, the TLS network has often provided prizes to students who completed Employment First posters.
